Psychic Safety and Skills

Depending on your belief system, you may consider magical skills universal, common, uncommon, or quite rare. In my experience, most people possess some innate ability in this direction, but few follow up on it. Without practice and attention, such talents rarely develop to a reliable level, just like any other skills. If you want a reasonable amount of expertise, you will probably have to work for it. This is also essential for self-defense in order to mount effective protections; you need to know something about visualization, energy manipulation, kitchen witchery, and so forth.

Developing Your Skills

Most magical disciplines can prove useful for personal safety. First, determine your area(s) of interest and aptitude. Different people's skills differ greatly. Some abilities seem to be widely available and learnable, such as energy manipulation, while others seem to be based on innate talent such as certain types of precognition. Start your study in areas that appeal to you or those for which you demonstrate a knack. You can add more challenging skills later.

To select your initial area of focus, browse the Course Catalog for this school. See which topics appeal to you, and take classes or find books, which specialize in those areas. You can also use a more empirical method of selection. For instance, if you love rocks or gemstones, you might try stone magic; this works well for blocking out negative energy. If you feel a strong connection with the natural world, you might focus on communicating with plants or animals. They can warn you of approaching threats or of nasty places.

If you already get snatches of a particular ability, work on that to develop your focus. Practice, practice, practice! Learning to control magic takes time and energy. Start with the basics of your chosen discipline and work up from there. Many psychic skills relate to each other, allowing you to build on previous experience. Try to devote a certain amount of time to your study on a regular basis – ten minutes a day, two hours a week, whatever works for you.

In general, the more you use your talents, the stronger they grow. Suppose you decide to learn scrying. At first you may see only brief, meaningless flashes of light. Then you may get colored fog which gives you a vague answer to questions: red for warnings of danger, gold for financial concerns, purple if someone is speaking about you, etc. Next, still images could appear, followed by moving images. Your range in time or space will probably grow too, from strictly local to farther away. Developing magical abilities is not unlike developing muscles: use 'em or lose 'em.

It often helps to keep a journal so you can track your progress. For this class, pay special attention to any challenges you face and how you deal with them. Note effective and ineffective strategies so you know which ones to repeat!

An Ounce of Prevention

Use your common sense to avoid problems. Read as widely as possible and talk to other people about your studies, but don't take all information for granted. Crosscheck your references for accuracy. When you do your homework, look for connections between different classes in this school. What are you learning that you can apply to magical self-defense?

Practice in an optimum state of mind and body; that is, don't work magic when you feel tired, sick, or emotionally upset. Prepare yourself before your begin. Learn and follow the basic precautions for your mode of working; this may involve casting a circle, grounding and centering, raising your personal shields, clearing your mind of distractions, and so forth. Acquire and use the appropriate tools for the job.

Keep an eye on mundane safety concerns, too; if you use a candle as a focus, make sure it can't fall over and set your room on fire. Do not ingest substances, invoke spirits, or perform rituals out of some book unless you know exactly what you're getting into. Don't push yourself too hard; stop working if you get a headache or other uncomfortable symptoms of overstrain. Take care of yourself by having something to eat and drink ready after your session. Ask a more experienced friend to monitor for you if you plan to attempt something risky.

Take sensible precautions in dealing with other people. Think twice before giving away a photograph of yourself, a lock of your hair, a treasured object, or anything else that could serve as a taglock a connection to you for anyone desiring to cast a spell on you. Do not let disagreements fester; settle them as soon as possible. If you hurt someone’s feelings, apologize and make amends. If anyone consistently mistreats you, break off contact as neutrally as possible.

Believe in yourself. Always trust your instincts! If anything feels like a bad idea, an unsafe place, a nasty object, a disturbing personal aura then you are probably better off keeping your distance.

First Steps

The world is full of challenges, glitches, hostility, and general mayhem. Sooner or later some of that will cross your path probably sooner. Psychic safety begins at a very basic level, right here, and gets more complex as the problems compound. There are many simple things you can do to keep yourself safe and comfortable.

When something goes wrong, you need to respond promptly and appropriately. Above all, remain calm! No situation is so bad that you can’t make it worse if you panic and do something stupid. Remain in control of yourself and you are that much closer to regaining control of the situation. Witches keep a clear head under stress.

First, identify the exact nature of the problem. What happened that should not have, or failed to happen that should have? Who did it affect most? Can you think of anyone who might have caused it, magically or mundanely? How might it have come about? How can it be fixed, or prevented from happening again?

Next, determine if the cause is magical or mundane. This is important. Most unpleasantness comes from ordinary sources, such as personal error or everyday chaos. Objects break; people forget things; stuff happens. Chances are, you simply screwed up or got unlucky. If you see a persistent pattern of mishaps not attributable to everyday causes, then suspect the metaphysical. Actual curses or other magical attacks are pretty rare.

More common are inadvertent assaults where someone may wish you ill or simply direct hateful thoughts at you, without doing any kind of ritual. Some people also tend to feed on the energy of bystanders, leaving their victims exhausted and cranky. There are also places or objects that carry some kind of vile aura. These effects can still make your life more annoying for a while. Deliberate attacks tend to require more effort to counter than unintentional ones, but similar methods work for both.

Once you figure out what the problem is, and its likely source, you can take steps to deal with it. Forget about the fictional accounts of flaming walls and enchanted jewels. When it comes to thwarting the forces of evil and entropy small or large discretion gets better results than flamboyance. This is because: 1) if you have a real enemy, you won’t alert them to your countermeasures, and 2) if the assault is inadvertent or impersonal, you won’t embarrass anyone, including yourself. The less said about your defenses, the better.

If you need to help a friend defend against a magical or emotional onslaught, you might suggest these things for clearing their mind or a lucky charm. You shouldn’t do magic for someone else without their permission, but you also don’t have to specify exactly what you’re doing or why. It will still work.

Troubleshooting

The basic techniques break down into two types: purification and protection. Purification means cleaning someone or something of any negative energy. Protection keeps the nasty stuff from getting there in the first place, by blocking it out. There are numerous methods for each. All magical systems and religions provide some of each type. Here are some things you can do simple, all-purpose first aid for magical quandaries.

Bathing uses water, with or without additives, to rinse away physical or magical grunge. Check your bathroom cabinet for bath salts. Most of them contain sea salt and work nicely for purification. If you don’t have anything like that, a half-cup of sea salt or table salt will do. Lavender, lemon verbena, magnolia, peppermint, pine, rosemary, or thyme are good herbs for a cleansing bath if you want more than salt. Fill the tub with hot water, stir in the salt, climb in and soak for a while. (If you're using a shower, pour the salt in a washcloth, wad it up, and scrub your body with it.) Imagine the bathwater leaching out all impurities and negativity. Let the water drain away, then rinse off.

Carrying charms can provide a good general defense, although you can find charms to protect against specific threats as well. A stone with a natural hole through it is a grounding and shielding influence. Another fine choice is a horseshoe nail; some blacksmiths make these into rings. A smooth silver pendant, one with a shield design or an image of the moon, bounces negative energy away.

Nourishing builds up a healthy charge, making it difficult for anything nasty to get a grip on you. Take a decadent bath with loads of bubbles. Sometimes you can even find organic stores carrying the fixings for a milk bath or oatmeal bath, the "nurturing" stuff. Aside from the metaphysical effects, those are quite a treat for the skin. Alternatively, ask your friends to send you little tokens of affection such as postcards or pressed flowers. Surround yourself with these. Put them on a special altar or over your bed, somewhere you'll see them often and be reminded that some pretty nifty people care about you.

Smudging uses natural substances, usually from plants, to make energy feel clean and healthy. Stock your incense supplies with sage, sweetgrass, cedar, or anything else that seems to suit the "purification" theme. In a crisis, a half-teaspoon of sage from your kitchen spice rack will do; put it on a saucer and hold a match to it until it smokes. Then cup your hands and waft the smoke over your body. Imagine it removing all impurities and negativity.

Warding protects your house, room, or other space from unwanted intrusions. The simplest method of warding is to take a cup of saltwater and sprinkle it all around your home. Real seawater works best, but you can just mix sea salt or table salt in plain water instead. Make sure to touch all the doors, windows, and other openings especially. Also touch each wall, floor, and ceiling. For extra power, trace a pentacle with saltwater on the main door(s). Visualize a shield of white light keeping out all unwelcome influences. Yes, this is a substantial investment of time and energy: that's why it works.

Pay attention to how people respond after your defensive measures. If someone hesitates to enter your home or suddenly becomes reluctant to get near you don’t turn your back on them. Troublemakers may sense protections subliminally and want to stay away. This helps you identify who they are. Most people either will not notice or will feel a little safer in your space or company.

Remember that magic is more like a martial art than an actual weapon: intended for defense rather than offense. Don’t get cocky. Don’t get aggressive. Just don’t let people walk all over you. What you have learned here is enough to resolve minor to moderate problems, or serve as first aid for more serious ones.

Your first and last line of defense against negativity is your mind. Use it well.

Homework

Journal Exercise: Think about some arguments you have gotten into recently. What were they about? What did you do or say? What did the other person(s) do or say? How do you think disputes spiral into magical attacks? Write down your thoughts in your journal. Then choose one unresolved argument and go settle it, politely.

Field Trip: Go around your hometown, preferably on foot. Explore different parks, businesses, attractions, and other places. See if you can sense the positive or negative energy of each area you visit. Does strengthening your magical protections make you feel more comfortable in the icky zones? If you feel confident of your defenses, you might try going into a pawnshop or antique store and handling various objects to sample their energy too. Stay alert, though don’t get into anything really horrible.

Project: Begin collecting some spell components for magical self-defense. Choose from such things as salt, herbs, incense, stones, charms, etc. Make sure you have at least one item each for purification and protection. Keep these near your altar or somewhere readily accessible. You might want extras for your purse or car.

Introduction to Psychic Development

Greetings everyone!

Welcome to the Introduction to Psychic Development course. This course is designedto give you the basic tools to identify and expand your psychic potential. This coursecannot promise that you will become a professional psychic, but it will give you a solidfoundation to continue your psychic development throughout your life. It is only thoughdaily meditation, prayer, and practice that one can begin to do detailed psychicreadings.

The course consists of five lessons listed below.

1) Introduction

2) Chakras / aura

3) Meditation

4) Psychic self-defense

5) Psychic attack

Each lesson is about four to six pages in length and contains two sections: theory and exercises. At the end of each lesson there is a short section with multiple-choice questions to evaluate your understanding of the theory porter score of 80% is passing. At the end of the course all of your test scores are combined for a final grade.

There are certain portions of these psychic development courses that deal with spirit communication. Most of the spirits that come through are friendly, usually past loved ones that simply wish to validate their existence beyond the physical plane. If you feel uncomfortable at any time ask them to leave. The development of psychic ability does not replace the natural grieving process for you if have loved ones who have passed on or you are experiencing difficult times. While the aid of a psychic may be beneficial during these times, it should only be sought out after the proper counseling and the grieving process have been satisfied. Also, it imperative that you complete the daily exercises for your protection. Some exercises are a necessity to continue development and protect against negative energy.

You should tell your close friends and family that you are working on developing yourself psychically. You will notice yourself becoming more aware of yourself and those around you. You will become more sensitive and emotional. This is normal because you are changing your perspective of the world. This may also mean that you are sensitive to things that you were not before. Things as simple as a TV commercial may now bring a tear to your eye. Your friends and family will see these subtle changes in you, and by informing them of your studies they will understand what is going on.

Also, the more energy you consciously spend on developing, the more your will notice your abilities growing. This means that each time you read a psychic book or lesson, watch a show dealing with psychics or think about the morning meditation on your way into work, you are consciously developing your abilities. Hidden abilities, for example telepathy, will become more apparent and strengthened even though you are not exercising those talents at the moment. Record all experiences in your journal as soon after they occur as possible or jot down some notes for recollection at a later time. A journal will show your progress.

Good luck with your future endeavors.

Blessings

Early in life we learn to perceive information from the outside world by developing and utilizing our five physical senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. Most children, upon being given a Granny Smith apple, will identify that object by its green color and shape, waxy surface, fragrant scent, and sour taste. Similarly, we can receive information beyond what can be detected with our physical senses through the proper training or development of the five psychic senses. The five psychic senses are Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Clairsentience, Clairallience, and Clairombiance.

Clairvoyance. French word meaning "clear vision" is the most well known psychic sense. Clairvoyance is when information can be seen in the form of still or moving pictures using your mind. Visions and premonitions are classic examples. Clairvoyance is usually the last psychic sense to the average person to develop. For the beginning student, mental images are not detailed. People come through as outlines with faces being the last to been seen clearly. Visualization techniques strengthen the mind's eye to allow clairvoyant images to become clearer. Most people immediately think of meditative exercises when asked to define visualization techniques. These techniques include any activity where you picture an object, person, or situation in your mind. It's kind of like daydreaming and while daydreaming is sometimes considered a bad thing to do while in a school or at work, it will help strengthen the third eye for clairvoyance. So daydream all you want in my psychic courses, it will only help you with later exercises.

Clairaudience, or "clear hearing" is when you perceive the information from hearing it in your mind though your internal voice. The internal voice sounds similar to the one you hear when reading to yourself. This voice will be used for telepathy and is the primary way that spirits communicate. With practice, you will learn to distinguish your personal thoughts from those sent to you by spirit guides and loved ones. This is done by noting the pitch, tone, volume, and frequency of the voice. In physical life, you learn the difference between someone speaking to you in a calm, serene manner and one that may be angry by using a harsh tone in a high volume. Similarly, spirits will be able to change their pitch, volume, and tone to portray emotions. The frequency of the voice refers to the characteristics of the sound wave. When you change the channel on the radio station, you are changing the frequency of the sound wave that your radio receives. Similarly, to communicate telepathically you must train yourself to "tune in" the same frequency that your internal voice uses. This frequency is not audible to the physical ear. Sometimes you'll hear ringing or a high-pitched buzz in your ears when trying to communicate telepathically. When this occurs, you'll need a change in the frequency that your mind is listening too. You are mostly likely listening to 60hertz, the frequency of electric current that bombards humans daily in modern society, the exercises presented here will help you accomplish that. However, a constant ringing or buzzing in your ears may be a sign of an ailment called tinnitus, which requires treatment by a medical physician.

Clairsentience, meaning "clear sensing", is usually the first of the five psychic senses to develop. It is most commonly recognized as fear or that gut feeling when something is about to happen. Have you ever had the feeling that you just know something? Many times a psychic will simply know or feel the information. This too is Clairsentience. Spirits will often communicate feelings or emotions, causing the psychic to actually feel the experience using sympathetic and empathic pain. Sympathetic pain is when you can feel the pain or other emotions from a spirit or person as if that pain or emotion was your own. For example, if someone has crossed over from a head trauma, the psychic may feel pain at the site where the trauma occurred when communicating with that entity. This pain will usually subside momentarily if the proper psychic protection measures have been taken prior to communication. In the case of the unprotected psychic, sympathetic pain could last several days before subsiding.

Empathic pain is; Objective awareness of, and insight into feelings, emotions and behavior of another person and their meaning and significance. Not the same as sympathetic, which is usually nonobjective and not critical.

Sympathy is defined as an affective reaction to, and like that of, another person feeling as another feels. It may be imitative sympathy in which the reaction is like that of another as perceived or thought. An example, laughing because another person is laughing, or reflective sympathy in which the reaction is like that of another person as his situation is understood.

I left these definitions in here are to give a clearer understanding of these to words.

Clairallience, literally translates to "clear smelling", refers to the ability to receive ' information through scent. This is used frequently by spirits when working inmediumship. Familiar scents, such as the deceased entity's favorite cologne, will often accompany spirits that wish to validate their identity. It can also be used by spirits as a way to get someone's attention for a certain purpose, such as accepting the death of a person who has person. A way of letting go.

Along those lines, Clairombiance, or "clear tasting", is when information is received through taste. This sense is not used often, but when it is used produces strong sensations in the taste buds of the mouth. Specific tastes will have significance to the person or spirit you are communicating with. Hopefully it will be a taste that's pleasant to you. For instance, while relaxing in front of the TV you may suddenly have the strong taste of cinnamon in your mouth. This could be related to one of your friends for whom you'd bake cinnamon cookies every Saturday. Now that this person has passed bringing the cinnamon taste to your mouth is his way of thanking you for the cookies and validating his presence to you.

Be aware that certain psychic senses will develop faster depending on which ones you are more naturally attuned with. Not all of us are visual learners; -therefore not everyone will receive information using clairvoyance. Through practice you'll be able to work out which senses are most likely to yield accurate information and in what way the information is sent and received.

Practical Exercises:

Exercises must be done on a daily basis in order to build up the psychic stamina to perform the more advanced meditations presented in later lessons. Prior to each exercise., the time should be taken to insure no distractions occur. This means shutting off all phones, pagers, alarms, etc., and practicing when children will not be disturbing you during the exercise. Also, it is highly recommended that students keep a private journal of all information gained through the exercises.

Before practicing any exercise it is highly advisable to "ground" yourself. Grounding isclearing and releasing excess energy. There are many ways to do this but for now we'llstart with one that's easy to remember.

Place yourself in a comfortable position, sitting or laying down. Standing is notrecommended.

Close your eyes and visualize a safe place, like a river flowing through a valley withtrees and flowers in a nearby field. Find a spot to sit near the river and watch thewater flow over the rocks and down the stream. Notice the energy within the water asit carries leaves and small branches away. Feel that energy and its strength as itpurifies your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.  Allow the pure essence of the water to carry all of your excess energy to the tips of your toes, out of your body, back into the stream. Slowly close your visualization. You are now grounded.

You can create your own visualization and continue to expand it. Grounding should also be done after each exercise as well.

Exercise #1: Clairvoyance Exercise

Pick a familiar object from everyday life that you can easily access. It can be any small object that can easily fit in the palm of your hand; for example, an apple, fork, a statue, or small glass. Take a few moments to inspect every visual aspect of the chosen object, reconstructing the object in your mind as you are viewing it. Place the object down in front of you and close your eyes. Again try to reconstruct the object in your mind with as much detail as possible. This should take a couple minutes. Once you have completed all the details of the object that you can remember in your mental picture, open your eyes and examine the object. Pay close attention to any details that you might have overlooked or that might be different than your mental picture. Writing down the details you omitted during the reconstruction in your mind, will assist you in remembering them the next time around. Switch objects every three days to practice on a variety of objects, but always strive for the details of each object rather than the quantity.

Exercise #2: Clairaudience Exercise

Begin by taking a few deep breaths in and then releasing them. Clear your mind of any thoughts of daily activity. Sometimes focusing your mind on an object, such as a candle flame, will help relax the physical body and draw attention toward the ears. Slowly count from number one to number twenty in your mind. This utilizes your internal voice and sounds like you are reading to yourself. After that has been completed, list the alphabet using your internal voice. Now draw your attention to your inner ear and become aware of the floor of your brain extending through your head directly above your ears. Slowly release the floor of the brain. Feel the floor drop down below your ears and allow the pressure in your head to escape through your ear canals. Do not physically try to push air through your ear canals since this exercise involves the psychic and not the physical ears. If at any time during this exercise you begin to hear a high-pitched tone or ringing in your ears, try to ignore or silence it. It is a sign that your Clairaudience is working but that you are tuning into the wrong frequency. The ringing is usually caused by electrical interference in the room and any information sent using Clairaudience would be heard around that tone.

Science has proven the existence of atoms, the smallest building block of all matter. Atoms are composed of three sub-atomic particles each having a unique electrical charge to it. Protons have a positive charge. Neutrons have a neutral charge. Electrons have a negative charge. It is through the interactions of these sub-atomic particles that all the necessary chemical reactions for life occur. That potential for a chemical reaction to occur is a form of energy. Heat, light, and sound are other forms of energy. Everything is made up of energy. Rocks, trees, and animals are composed of energy. All have energy radiating from them to form spheres of energy around their physical bodies termed auras. Auras are like the halos you see around moon sometimes.

Your vital life energy, often referred to as "chi", is the total energy you possess in all frequencies combined. The chi of any object is seen by its aura. The entire aura is composed of the energy of all your chakras. A chakra, literally translated to mean "spiral wheel," is where energy of a certain frequency is concentrated and either adsorbed or released during psychical, emotional, or spiritual interactions. These chakras are feed energy through meridians, channels used to transport energy to and from chakras in the body. This concept can be difficult to firmly grasp, so we shall use an analogy. For example, your physical body is made up of blood vessels which carry nutrients and waste products to feed organs which have a pre-defined task. If we stick with that analogy, meridians can be viewed as energy blood vessels. They are channels used to transport energy to and from chakras. Chakras would be like organs in this analogy. Each chakra has a specific frequency of energy which it uses to communicate with a particular level of consciousness. Continuing with the body analogy, the sum of individual organs work together to form bodily systems, such as circulatory or nervous systems, that complete an essential goal. When all of the bodily systems are viewed together the whole person is seen. Similarly, chakras combine to produce your chi which is viewed as your aura.

There are eight major chakras, each corresponding to a different energy frequency (color) and affected by specific thoughts and actions.

  1. 1.     Root chakra is located at the base of the spine and is associated with the color red. It is the lowest energy vibration, correlating to the physical plane of existence. It is affected by concerns of basic survival and sustenance (home, food and career). It is connected to the urinary tract organs.
  2. 2.          Sacral chakra is located along the spine behind the naval region. It is associated with the color orange, is directly affected by physical concerns, and in connected with the reproductive organs. It is the second lowest energy vibration, correlating to the emotional plane of existence.
  3. 3.           Solar plexus chakra is centered along the spine behind the stomach region. It is the chakra responsible for receiving messages through clairsentience and is affected by power, control, and irrational fear. It corresponds to the digestive system of the physical body (stomach, intestines, etc.) and it the color yellow.
  4. 4.    Heart chakra is centered along the spine behind the heart region and is a deep emerald green in color. It is responsive to your feelings of love and completeness as a person. It affects the circulatory system of the physical body.
  5. 5.    Throat chakra is located behind the Adam's apple (mid-throat region). It is associated with the color blue. It is affected by your forms of communication, truth, and being able to ask when your needs are not met.
  6. 6.    Ear chakra is the center for clairaudience. They are a red - violet (maroon) color spiraling just above your ears near the temple region. It reacts to what you hear or have heard and your desire to hear spiritual guidance.
  7. 7.    Third eye chakra is the basis for all clairvoyant works. It is purple in color which emanates from the center of the forehead (just above your eyebrows). It is affected by your beliefs about spirits and your feelings about the past, present, and future of your life.
  8. 8.    Crown chakra is located near the inside of the top of the head or slightly above your head and corresponds to the connection to divine energy. It is the highest energy vibration. It is affected by prayer, meditation, and one's feelings toward Deity. Any extra external energy you need for cleansing purposes with come through this chakra.

Through the art of aura reading, the color of an aura can be seen by the naked eye. The color of an aura corresponds to the frequency of energy that person is most in tune with.

Auras will often change colors depending on the mood of the individual and other outside factors. Through these auras, energy from one object can interact with the energy from
another object and often the auras will blend during the interaction. For example, if you are in a positive mood and feel completely balanced your aura will most likely be white in color. Now you get a phone call from a friend who angry and depressed because they are having a bad day. The aura of that person will probably be dark in color, possibly black depending on how focused their negative energy is. As you interact with that person, you feel drained and less upbeat than you did before the interaction. By the time this interaction is over, your friend feels better but you feel tired and irritable. On a conscious level you may not understand what is actually going on. The black aura from your negative friend is interacting with your perfectly white aura, causing you to lose positive energy to that individual. After the interaction, both of your auras are now grayish in color. You should to do a chakra balancing meditation to regain the energy you lost to your friend.

There are three steps to every chakra balancing meditation. First, you must clear each chakra of negative energy. Negativity is represented by a dirty, murky looking chakra. You must change the color of the chakra to the most brilliant shade you can imagine. Sprinkles of white can be mixed into any chakra to lighten the color to the shade you need. Second, you must balance them. Similar to the tires on a car, chakras must be balanced to ensure proper alignment and direction. Each chakra should be rotating in a clockwise direction. This may mean that you stop a chakra from spinning and forcefully reverse its direction. Third, you must charge them by infusing them with energy. This is done by making the chakras larger or smaller so that each chakra is the same size. The mediation presented here will help you with these steps.

An aura can be worn down from any number of things. Imbalanced diet, dehydration, alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, tobacco products, and drugs of any kind severely wear down the strength of an aura. Emotional stimuli will also affect the strength of your aura. Interactions with surrounding objects, people, or spirits will alter your aura depending on the type of interaction that occurs. An aura can be re-built up through prayer, meditation, and psychic shielding. We will discuss these techniques in detail in later lessons. Remember, you are dealing with energy here. Science has proven that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it can only change form. Therefore, the amount of time, concentration, and intensity you put behind a thought or action will determine how likely it is to occur because you are changing the form and direction of the energy you have. This places great responsibility on your part because any thought, positive or negative, could potential alter someone else's reality. It is imperative that you reflect on your intentions and desire to develop psychically before continuing into more advanced work.

Meditation Exercises

Exercises must be done on a daily basis in order to build up the psychic stamina to perform the more advanced meditations presented in later lessons. Prior to each exercise, the time should be taken to insure no distractions occur. This means shutting off all phones, pagers, alarms, etc. during the exercise. Also, it is highly recommended that students keep a private journal of all information gained through the exercises.

Exercise #1: Rhythmic Breathing

Begin by assuming a position that is comfortable. It does not matter if you are sitting, standing, or lying down just as long as you can maintain that posture for up to thirty minutes without moving. Take a moment to become aware of your physical body and the position that you have chosen. Each inhale should be deep, expanding the diaphragm in your abdomen region before filling your lungs with air. For each exhale; slowly breathe through your mouth like you are blowing out birthday cake candles. Deeply exhale all the air in your lungs and inhale through your nose for a count of four. Hold your breath for a count of two then slowly release your breath for another count of four. Hold no breath for a count of two and then repeat. Continue the cycle until you have completed three cycles without thought. If counting at an even pace is difficult, soft music during the meditation often helps to ensure the proper counting rhythm.

As your rhythmic breathing develops, the count can change to six counts on inhales and exhales. Continue to hold the breath in or out for two counts between inhales and exhales. Also, visualizations can be added for the more advanced student. After performing three complete breath cycles without thought, maintain the breathing pattern. Envision yourself inhaling positive energy in the form of plus signs with each inhale and releasing negative energy symbolized by minus signs for exhales. Make sure to release all the minus signs for each exhale.

Exercise #2: Chakra Balancing

Began by completing the more advanced version of Exercise #1: Rhythmic Breathing. Visualize a little red ball of light spinning at the base of your spine. This is the root chakra. Mentally note any color that it is and the direction it is spinning if possible. Begin to mentally change the hue of the ball to a brilliant, clear, ruby red. Force the chakra to spin in a clockwise direction if it is not already doing so. Once the root chakra is spinning in the proper direction with the correct hue, expand it until your whole body is surrounded by this brilliant red light. Diminish the red sphere until it has returned to the little red ball of light at the base of your spine. Slowly turn your attention upward to the orange ball of light slightly above the root chakra. This orange ball of light is your sacral chakra. Mentally note any color that it is and the direction it is spinning if possible. Begin to mentally change the hue of the ball to a stunning orange. Force the chakra to spin in a clockwise direction if it is not already doing so. Once the sacral chakra is spinning in the proper direction with the correct hue, expand it until your whole body is encased in orange light. Diminish the orange sphere until it has returned to the little orange ball of light behind your naval region. Slowly turn your attention upward to the yellow ball of light slightly above the sacral chakra. This yellow ball of light is your solar plexus chakra. Mentally note any color that it is and the direction it is spinning if possible. Begin to mentally change the hue of the ball to a bright sun yellow. Force the chakra to spin in a clockwise direction if it is not already doing so. Once the solar plexus chakra is spinning in the proper direction with the correct hue expand it until this yellow light surrounds your whole body. Diminish the yellow sphere until it has returned to the little yellow ball of light behind your stomach. Slowly turn your attention upward to the green ball of light slightly above the solar plexus chakra. This green ball of light is your heart chakra. Mentally note any color that it is and the direction it is spinning if possible. Begin to mentally change the hue of the ball to a clear emerald green color. Force the chakra to spin in a clockwise direction if it is not already doing so. Once the heart chakra is spinning in the proper direction with the correct hue, expand it until your whole body is surrounded by this green light. Take a moment to breath in this green. Diminish the green sphere until it has returned to the little green ball of behind your heart. Slowly turn your attention upward to the blue ball of light slightly above the heart chakra. This blue ball of light is your throat chakra. Mentally note any color that it is and the direction it is spinning if possible. Begin to mentally change the hue of the ball to a sky-blue. Force the chakra to spin in a clockwise direction if it is not already doing so. Once the throat chakra is spinning in the proper direction with the correct hue, expand it until your whole body is covered in blue light. Diminish the blue sphere until it has returned to the little blue ball of light from your throat. Slowly turn your attention upward to the maroon ball of light in the temple region (just above the ears). This maroon ball of light is your ear chakra. Mentally note any color variance in the chakra and the direction it is spinning. Begin to mentally change the hue of the ball to a clear redish purple color. Force the chakra to spin in a clockwise direction if it is not already doing so. Once the ear chakra is spinning in the proper direction with the correct hue, expand it until your whole body embraces this purple light. Diminish the maroon sphere until it has returned to the little maroon ball of light near your ear. Slowly turn your attention upward to the purple ball of light in your eye brow region. This purple ball of light is your third eye chakra. Mentally note any color variance in the chakra and the direction it is spinning. Begin to mentally change the hue of the ball to a clear, deep purple. Force the chakra to spin in a clockwise direction if it is not already doing so. Once the third eye chakra is spinning in the proper direction with the correct hue, expand it until your whole body embraces this purple light. Diminish the purple sphere until it has returned to the little purple ball of light near your third eye. Slowly turn your attention upward to the white ball of light descending down from the sky above. This white ball of light is your crown chakra beginning to open to receive messages from the divine. Take a moment to feel the warmth and love from this light. Mentally note any distortion in color and the direction it is spinning. Begin to mentally change the hue of the ball to the most brilliant white light that you can imagine. Force the chakra to spin in a clockwise direction if it is not already doing so. Once the crown chakra is spinning in the proper direction with the correct hue, expand it until your whole body is covered in brilliant white light. Feel the warmth on your skin. Feel it penetrate deep into your tissues and muscles. Feel it warm your bones. Then diminish the white sphere until it has returned to the little white ball of light at the top of your head. Begin to wiggle your toes and fingers. Become aware of the position of your physical body. Slowly move your legs and arms. Open your eyes then take a moment to become aware of the room around you. Immediately, record all of the colors, images, etc. from this meditation in your journal.

Webster's says meditation is:

1. to engage in thought or contemplation, reflect

2. To plan in the mind

Another version defines it as: A calm lengthy intent consideration. Meditation is a state of being.

In psychology, consciousness is defined as immediate knowledge of one's own existence, conditions, sensations, mental operations, acts, etc. or perception of the presence of any object, state, or sensation. In an ordinary state of consciousness we are not aware of all aspects of ourselves and our environment. Our attention is focused on physical stimuli such as the phone ringing, a car driving by, and the smell of fresh bread as you drive by a bakery. We do not listen to our hearts beating or watch our stomachs digest food. Those inward aspects are noticed at times of little physical stimulation, like while sleeping.

Scientists have determined that humans repeat a cyclic sleep pattern several times throughout one night of sleep. Within an hour of falling asleep, the person will drop from a light slumber to the deepest level of sleep and stay there for about 30 minutes. At that deep sleep stage, little brain activity is present and the person will have no dream recollection if awakened. After that time, the person will climb back up through various levels of consciousness until he/she is on the verge of waking up. This state is termed rapid eye movement (REM) sleep for the short bursts of eye wiggling followed by a minute or two of non-movement. Since the early 1900s, scientists connected REM sleep with a high occurrence of dream recollection but it was not until the 1950s that these findings were validated with electroencephalographs (EEG) monitoring the brain activity of sleeping volunteers. Scientists have made many theories about dreams, but really have no concrete evidence of where the dream originates from. In the 1970's, two Harvard scientists proposed what is called the "activation-synthesis hypothesis", which describes how dreams are formed by nerve signals sent out during REM sleep from a small area at the base of the brain called the pons. Their theory was based on dreams being essentially "random". Another study in 1997 by Mark Solms of the University of Cape Town in South Africa published the results of his study of people with damage to different parts of the brain and found that there was still more than one mechanism in the brain for activating dreams. And because of this study in South Africa, scientists and therapists alike are taking another look at Sigmund Freud's theory that dreams may indeed express unconscious thoughts.

These various states of consciousness can be utilized for psychic ability by consciously learning to control the chemical changes occurring within the brain. This is done by feeling in a different aspect, though. You'll actually feel the shift in consciousness. But for the beginning student I highly recommend a quiet, relaxed atmosphere to focus your attention on your shift in consciousness. The conditions recommended for your exercises in the previous lessons are a good example. However, you do not have to be in a completely relaxed state to control your level of consciousness. Studies have also shown absolute silence as distracting as a ring phone. So achieve a state that enables you to focus easily. There are numerous cases of individuals in alarmed or heightened states who experience a rush of knowledge or vision before or during a crisis. Just as stress or lack of stress is the key which unlocks some people's psychic potential, so you must train yourself to respond to a particular stimulus. I'm one of those who work easier under pressure than in a relaxed state. My key or trigger is "suggestion". Yours might be the aroma of an essential oil or incense. Creating a stimulus, something that you respond well to will help you in your development.

Meditation requires a quiet mind. This takes a great deal of practice to achieve. Some metaphysical teachers have the opinion that the mind must be totally void of all thoughts during meditation. However, if this were the case, we may not expect to record any brain activity during any level of sleep including REM and dream cycles. Rhythmic breathing exercises used on a regular basis will assist meditation sessions in stress reduction and quiet your mind to encourage visualizations. Visualization is much like daydreaming except with more focus. These strong and vivid mental situations begin to teach students how to astral project. Just as in REM sleep, during certain dreams, the astral self can project itself during intense visualizations. The astral self is your spirit or energy life force. It can interact on the spiritual or physical realms with objects and entities. You can astral project to any situation, go back in time, you can fly, you can gain knowledge, and perhaps even learn some of life's lessons. But please keep in mind, the laws of Karma apply on all Planes.

In group settings, guided meditations are preferred because everyone can participate in the same visualization. It is possible to leave your own meditation and astral project into someone else's meditation. That is called dream walking. It can be effective if you are trying to teach someone visualization skids. When alone, feel free to create any sort of positive visualization ytfU can think of Visualize being near the ocean, hearing the water and watching the tide along the shore, or picturing a mountain top, sitting at the crest inside the clouds convening with nature. For you, your visualization creation might not take you any further than turning your own backyard into a sanctuary. Through this course you will be developing a "psychic forest" with various roads you will later develop to meet your spirit guides and deceased relatives. *  Your "psychic forest" is also designed to help you relax and work out some of your "psychic" problems.

Meditation Exercises:

The exercises will take time, effort and patience. Please allow for these by finding your own quiet space, void of disturbances. Write down your experiences in your journal to keep track of your progress and for future reference. It's also a good idea to write down any experiences you might consider scary or uncomfortable. This can assist you in your fears. Please feel free to e-mail me about any or all experiences you wish to discuss further. Remember you are in control at all times. Your journals are for your private viewing.

Exercise #1: Creating a psychic space

Begin by assuming a position that is comfortable and completing the rhythmic breathing exercise from the previous lesson. Proceed into the chakra balancing meditation if you have not done it earlier in the same day. When you feel relaxed, begin to imagine that you are standing on a small dirt trail deep in a wild forest. Look up to see the tall trees overhead and sun rays streaming out through those tall trees. Take a moment to listen to the birds and other animals and enjoy the day. Next focus your attention back on the dirt path you are standing on. Notice that it continues to wind deeper into the forest. Begin to follow it. As you make your way deeper into the path, feel the sun on your back and the sweet smell of, flowers. Soon you will get to a three way fork. Stop there and notice that the left and right most forks are blocked with huge grey and brown boulders. These boulders will be removed as you continue to develop your psychic potential. The center path will be open for you now. So continue down the center fork. A little further down the path there is a clearing in the thick trees. In the center of this clearing is a huge Oak tree. The limbs are strong and wide and you feel confident in the strength of the tree. As you examine the tree, look from the bottom of the trunk to ends of the limbs to the top of the tree. Notice a nice tree house with a small deck attached with a wooden ladder extending down the back of the tree to reach the ground. This tree house represents your inner consciousness, the place where your psychic senses are managed. You will come here when you need privacy and psychic space. Other entities should not be invited or allowed to enter. Begin to climb this ladder. Once at the top of the ladder, go up to the door and try to open it. Notice that the door is locked. Now look down. Next to the door is a small wooden box. To unlock the door you must earn the key by placing all of your fears, doubts, and negative energy in the box. Make sure you put ALL negative feelings in the box. Once you have completely purged yourself of negativity, a key will appear in the box. Pick up the key and use it to unlock the door to your tree house. Enter the tree house. At first the room is somewhat dark. You can decipher outlines of objects, but will not get great detail until light enters the room. The room can be decorate any way you want, but there are three essential components to this room. To your right upon entering the tree house, you will find a triangle shaped window with boards across it. Sunlight attempts to penetrate the boards but to little avail. This window represents your third eye and the sunlight is psychic information. The window has been boarded up over a lifetime of hardships to protect your inner psyche. Now you must remove the boards from the window one by one. When the window is completely open, spend a minute basking in the sunlight as it lights up the rest of the otherwise darkened room. Moving counterclockwise around the room, next to the window is a wooden table large enough for you to lie on. This table should be opposite the door to the tree house. There are charts of your body about the table. This table is where you will lay down to relax, have your chakras checked, etc. The charts will indicate if there is something wrong on an unconscious level when you lay down. Consider these to be psychic diagnosis tables. The tables also have the ability to heal worn down chakras, etc. Take a few minutes to explore this area. Now, opposite the window to your left when you first enter the tree house, you will find a small desk. On this desk are the controls for your psychic abilities. There are drawers where you can store information and files. There is a switch underneath the desk with three settings; on, standby, and off. This switch controls your psychic powers. Notice that the switch is off. Turn it to standby. Never leave this room with the switch in the on position or you will begin to suffer headaches from over stimulation of your brain. Take a few minutes to explore this room before leaving. You should be coming back here often.

Vampires. That one word should send mental pictures of Bram Stroker's "Dracula" rushing to mind. The idea of physical undead beings feeding on the blood of innocent (or sometimes guilty) people to stay alive has fascinated and horrified humanity for centuries. However the days of crossed doorways and wearing garlic necklaces to bed are parts of fiction writing now. While there may be no physical undead beings roaming the earth in search of blood, vampires in a different sense do exist. Matter of fact they are surprisingly common.

Psychic protection is the art of shielding your chi from negative influences that are either consciously or unconsciously directed toward you. Recall from lesson 2 that your energy is constantly being bombarded with ideas. For example, something as simple as encountering a friend having a bad day can change your energy. Your friend is playing the role of a psychic vampire. Though she is unaware of it, by sharing her bad day she is actually sucking positive energy off of you to make herself feel better. Thus when the conversation is over, you feel slightly drained while she feels better.  Everyone is a psychic vampire sometime during their life. However, beware of people who are psychic vampires all of the time. In either case, psychic vampires are usually unaware of the consequents of their actions.

As if psychic vampires were not enough to protect against, your aura must also be protected from a number of other things. Thought has the ability to focus the energy that surrounds and permeates all life.   In ancient times, masters would teach their students to learn how to control their thought processes. All illness and imbalance -physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual - comes from a thought pattern that manifested the condition. Scientists, researchers, and medical personnel are usually the first to deny or overlook this possibility. For example, while working at a local hospital as a researcher a few years back, each day my supervisor, a trained medical doctor, would send me to get several bags of chocolates for her lunch. When I explained to her that her chocolate "addiction" was not healthy and that everything in life should be in moderation, she dismissed it saying, "I will take a lunch break tomorrow. I am swamped with work today." Well today, she is a diabetic. Her constant attitude of self-indulgence and postponement has manifested itself in a physical disease. Surprisingly, to this day she still continues to eat chocolate lunches.

Your thoughts do not remain with you. If they are thoughts regarding other people, the thought will directly affect that person. Let us look at common road rage as an example. Someone cuts you off and you grumble. You might even curse at them. You do not wish them harm, but out of anger you have some negative thoughts and emotions about them.

Karmic laws states that any thought, positive or negative, will return to the sender multiple times.  Therefore, you must also protect your aura from any unwanted thoughts, emotions, or actions that you have unknowingly sent out to other people. Remember that as your develop your psychic abilities, it becomes more important to control your thoughts. You will find that your abilities accelerate the manifestation process.  The manifestation will also be more immediate and powerful. As you notice these occurrences in your daily life, note them in your journal and spend some time reflecting on them in meditation.

Protection of the aura is essential to psychic protection.  The aura needs constant protection through meditation, prayer, and positive thoughts. It can be worn down by a weakened physical condition, looking for the quick and easy route, accepting information blindly, indecisiveness, overactive imagination, insecurity, lack of knowledge, blaming, guilt, fear, and other negative emotions. If these characteristics are present, they will manifest themselves in unbalanced psychic work. Some students encounter those flaws and seek assistance from a psychic group, coven, or class.  While group rituals and meditations are beneficial to the beginning student, beware that the energy felt in group settings is a combination of the energy from each member of the group. It is not accurate in defining your own issues and setbacks.  Remember that the first step in accurate psychic protection is to identify the problem.  This requires a great deal of self reflection and assessment.

In any psychic work, there is little room for exaggerated feelings such as self-doubt, self-centeredness, and fear. You have to be confident enough in yourself to know that your work will be successful and humble enough to admit that you could be wrong. Bottom line, you have to be responsible for your own thought forms. Remember that psychic and clairvoyant abilities do not reflect a high moral character. Ignorant psychics, mediums, and metaphysical teachers can be dangerous to themselves and their students because they are not grounded in morality. Use discernment at all times and make sure that you have acquired validation of the psychic or teacher's abilities. Conformation will come through outside sources and by events playing themselves out as predicted. Remember that as a student, you are responsible for learning to be spiritual as well as psychic.  Only by achieving a balance between the two will you be truly gifted.

Meditation Exercises:

Exercises must be done on a daily basis in order to build up the psychic stamina to perform the more advanced meditations presented in later lessons. Prior to each exercise, the time should be taken to insure no distractions occur. This means shutting off all phones, pagers, alarms, etc. during the exercise. Also, it is highly recommended that students keep a private journal of all information gained through the exercises.

Exercise #1: Daily Psychic Shower

This is a simple exercise that should be completed every morning regardless of any other meditations or psychic work performed during the day. This exercise can replace the ritual bath learned in Lesson One of the First degree Course and can be performed as part of your normal shower experience. Begin with a few deep rhythmic breathes. Next, visualize yourself covered from head to toe in black negative dirt. This dirt is so thick that you can barely make out the color of your skin beneath it, almost as if you have just wandered through a coal mine. Begin to physically cleanse every area of your body while visualizing all the dirt washing away leaving the natural color of your skin shining through. When you are completely clean of this psychic dirt, spend a moment visualizing all the dirt flowing down the drain of your shower. You have finished cleansing your aura.  Now you must charge it.

If you like heat and steam from the shower, turn up your hot water slightly to aid in this next visualization.  Turn your attention back to your clean skinned body.  Now feel the heat of the shower and visualize the water turning into a white stream of positive light energy. Feel the white light penetrate your skin and cleanse your spirit. Now visualize that white light washing away any other negative energy. Picture yourself glowing with the white light of divine protection. You have finished charging your aura.  Now you must protect it.

Complete any physical cleaning portions of the shower as needed.  When you are ready to end your shower, turn off the water. As you drip for a few moments, visualize a double sided mirror surrounding you. The mirror facing away from you protects your aura from negative outside influences by bouncing the energy back at the sender.  The mirror facing you on the inside of the shield amplifies any energy that you possess. Since you have just cleansed and charged your aura, the space between you and the mirror should be filled with positive white light and divine energy as you visualized it coming from the shower head.  Know that your mirror shield will protect your aura from any negative outside influences and that you are now surrounded with divine love. If at sometime during the day you feel insecure or afraid, visualize the mirror shield and feel that white light surround you.

Exercise #2: Tree of Life Meditation

The tree of life meditation should be used when you lack the confidence in yourself, your abilities, or the stability of life in general. You can choose to do this as a standing meditation, using your arms to help you in the visualization. Begin with the rhythmic breathing exercise discussed in earlier lessons.  Once relaxed, picture yourself as a tree. Notice the roots shooting out from the bottom of your feet and going deep into the ground below you.  These are your anchors; they will support you as you grow taller.  Take a minute and feel how grounded you are in the earth below.  Now look up.  Notice that your arms extend over your head and become branches.  At first they are bare twigs, but as you develop you can visualize leaves and flowers on you.  Notice how your stable roots are able to support your tree and how the roots keep growing as your branch arms grow larger. Once you are a big tree, you are able to support animal life among your branches.  Birds can flock and build nests in your arms. Squirrels can run up your body for shade. Ants happily work down by your roots. Feel grounded, secure, and confident in being able to support these animals.

Psychic attack refers to someone who maliciously uses his / her psychic abilities to bring negative influences into the life of another entity. Classic film examples such as The Craft bring back images of evil witch covens. However, psychic attacks do not always originate from Satanists. Some traditional witchcraft followers believe that any magick or psychic ability is neither good nor bad therefore karmic laws do not apply. Regardless of the source, psychic attacks can be devastating on your life, health, and relationships. They can destroy your dreams for weeks on end or cause subtle hardships in your life. Psychic attacks sent toward you may manifest themselves in the lives of your close loved ones as well. It depends on the nature of the attack, the magickal strength of the attacker, and the reason for the attack. While psychic attacks are rare, they do occur. Therefore, as part of psychic protection, you must learn to protect yourself against even the strongest of psychic attacks.

Common indicators of a psychic attack include depression and sleeplessness, nervous exhaustion, weariness around certain people, unusual fears and obsessions that are persistent, feeling weight upon chest, repetitive dreams of terror and attacks, bad odors around all personal environments, electrical problems, sudden and possibly localized temperature changes in home, and unusual difficulties, trouble, or phenomena around you, your closest friends, and your family members. Symptoms usually lesson or disappear completely when the victim is out of his/her normal environment. While these characteristics indicate a possible psychic attack, they could indicate a number of other possible origins such as schizophrenia. Care should be taken in the diagnosis of symptoms.

Since psychic attacks occur infrequently, all other possible psychic disturbances must be ruled out before repelling potential psychic attack. Self-evaluations and meditations about life events and direction are essential to focus the origin of the psychic disturbance. Once it has been clarified that the source of the psychic disturbance is EXTERNAL, divination must be performed in order to determine the origin and situation surrounding the attack. Only after you have determined that have not wronged the person in any way can you proceed to repel the attack. While it is not advisable to psychically attack someone who has wronged you, uneducated or unmoral psychics will attempt it. Karma will be on their side since you were the one who caused the problem. If you have harmed the person, then you must correct the situation by any rational means necessary.  If you continue with the defense, you will be at risk of physical, emotional or mental harm because you are not only fighting the attack but also the return of your negative karma. This gives the attacker the advantage over you that you may not be able to psychically handle. It is never advisable to continue a defense when you have wronged someone.

When alone in a bad neighbor, most of us take the basic precaution of not going into dark alleys. Similarly, there are some basic precautions you should take if you suspect you may have been psychically attacked. As already mentioned, daily exercises in psychic protection are paramount to guarding your energy. You should practice psychic self-protection regardless of the potential for psychic attack. At the first inkling that you are being psychically attacked you need to pay close attention to the content of your dreams. Dreams are often used by spirit guides or relatives to communicate with you. The contents of dreams may play a significant role in determining the cause of your attack. It is important to maintain a calm, positive attitude toward the situation. Otherwise you may unknowingly provoke a psychic attack by sending negative energy to the person before the actual attack. To avoid this, you need to separate yourself from the situation. Begin by forgiving yourself for any involvement in the situation. Just because you were friends with your attacker earlier in your life does not mean that you are to blame for the attack. Be proud of the fact that you are an innocent in the situation and be willing to defend yourself and your actions. This may mean a physical move may be necessary to remove yourself for the environment stimulating negative feelings. Spending some extra time with nature will not only strengthen your aura, but also energize and cleanse you from negative emotions. Laughter will lighten your emotions and heal your mental wounds from a bad situation. Resist any unwanted fantasies or thoughts, especially negative thoughts or fantasies of what could have been, as these are indications of outside interference. Finally, you need to bless and pray for the person who is psychically attacking you. They obviously need healing and blessings them will allow you to disconnect yourself from the situation.

If you suspect that you are the target of a psychic attack, there are some things you should do. First, beware of your castoffs. Castoffs are personal artifacts (hair and nail clippings) and information (magickal name, birth name, and birth date) that is linked to you. All of these items can be used against you in an attack. Keep your daily plans to yourself. Do not share them with people you do not trust completely and can depend on.  If an attacker does not know what you are doing, they cannot adversely affect your life. Also try to regain any possessions and gifts you may have given the person. Never accept gifts of hospitality from someone who you think is psychically attacking you.  If you cannot regain your possessions, perform a meditation to separate your energy from those objects. The meditation will render the objects erase of your energy and unusable for psychic attack purposes. Second, avoid contact with the person who you believe has psychically attacked you. Recall that each time you interact with someone, even superficially, your energy mingles with that of the other person.  If the other person is attempting to gauge you strengths and weaknesses for use in a psychic attack, they are best able to do that in a face to face meeting. To avoid that you must avoid contact with that individual.

A common concern about students facing a psychic attack is that they might become overwhelmed.  Rule #1 about psychic attack: The person attacking you will expend far more energy in the attack than you ever could in your defense. If you are truly innocent in the situation that brought about the attack, then the aggressor will not only have to fight your defense, but his own energy returning through Karmic laws as well. This allows people with weak psychic abilities to adequately defend themselves against stronger individuals.  If you are still concerned about potential harm, ask spirits guides, Goddess, God, the Airts, or deceased ancestors or friends for help.

There are some cases where a person is psychically attacked continuously over an extended period of time.  In situations like this, where all other resources have been exhausted, you may need to actually respond to the attacker. This may be done as a phone call, in person meeting, or through dream walking depending on the situation and individuals involved. The purpose of this response is to let the person know that you are aware of their psychic attack activities and are willing to peacefully resolve them without using magick. Approach the meeting with an open mind and do not allow yourself to become angry, excited, or temperamental during the encounter as negative emotions will worsen the situation.

Meditation Exercises:

This exercise, unlike the others discussed in this course, should only be done when there is no other physical or psychic option available.  It should only be performed with the calmest of mind, with no anger, jealousy, or malice. As always, prior to each exercise, the time should be taken to insure no distractions occur. This means shutting off all phones, pagers, alarms, etc. during the exercise. Also, it is highly recommended that students keep a private journal of all information gained through the exercises. This will be invaluable for the final exam.

This is a spell to help you repel a psychic attack should someone sent one your way. The emotional state of the caster when approaching this spell is essential to its success. The caster must remain calm, with no anger, regret, or second thoughts. Any fear should be replaced with confidence in the Deities you are asking for assistance. Focus your concentration on the words of power instead of the person or entity that sent the attack. Add specific details, feelings, etc. to the words of power. Below are some suggested words of power:

Divine mother and father,

Give me and my loved ones your divine light of protection and love

According to Free Will and the good of all.

Help me to release anything having to do with a psychic attack,

In particular, I dissolve all cause, effect, manifestation, form and essence of anything having to do with (list symptoms)

In all time and all space

Anything and everything negative, said or unsaid,

I hereby dissolve and release all negativity, turning it positive

In my life and the lives of my loved ones,

In the Names of the Goddess and God.

All psychic attack is gone,

I am free:

So mote it be!

Exercise #2: Severing ties

This is a spell to help you repel a psychic attack should someone sent one your way. The emotional state of the caster when approaching this spell is essential to its success. The caster must remain calm, with no anger, regret, or second thoughts. Any fear should be replaced with confidence in the Deities you are asking for assistance.

Begin by making a list of the objects and entities that you need to sever ties with.  For the meditation, start with the standard rhythmic breathing exercise. Once relaxed, visualize the object or person you need disconnect from. Visualize a silver cord between you and the item. Visualize another silver cord between the item and the person who you suspect may be psychically attacking you.  Both cords are needed as the energy from both parties is infused into the item by the act of giving. Now cut the cord between you and the item while leaving the cord between the attacker and the item intact. Art of using our brains to “see” what is not physically present

Forming of magic circle relies in part on ability to visualize personal power flowing out to form a sphere of glowing light around the ritual area

This visualization directs the power that actually creates the circle

We already possess this ability

We can raise energy from our bodies, visualize it streaming out from our palms, then form it into a small glowing sphere, fashioning it physically as if into a snowball, and mentally by seeing it as we desire

In magic, raise energy, holding an image in the mind of something needed, direct energy to empower the visualization, to bring it into manifestation

Visualization “programs” the power

A form of mental sympathetic magic

Thoughts affect the quality of our lives so keep thoughts in order and in line with desires and needs
